Well Meaning Relatives!!!!!
How is this a problem I hear you ask …
You have just been to your first self defence session, you come home buzzing, brimming with enthusiasm. Your want to show everyone the great wrist grab technique you just learned!
So up steps your well meaning relative (sorry to say usually male). They grab your wrist, confident in their belief that it won’t work on them and as if by magic the technique works perfectly!!
You see the look of disbelief on the face of your well meaning relative.
“lets try that again again” they cry
But this time it’s different, you see them psych themselves up because it won’t work a second time. They grab your arm with fierce determination and try as you might you cannot remove their grip.
So, the well meaning relative pats you on the head and says “there there maybe you need a few more lessons” and you stand there utterly deflated!
This happened to me not once but twice!
It took me a while to realise that you only need it to work once. The essence of self defence is to get away from the person and get to safety.
So when well meaning relatives zap your enthusiasm think about this. A well placed kick to the shin at full power will stop anyone in there tracks but we chose not to because they are our family and you don’t want to hurt them.

Alternatively if you really want to kick someone in the shins we also offer some great First Aid Courses as well[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”6114″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” link=”https://www.ijjauk.com/self-defence-tips”][vc_single_image image=”6139″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” link=”https://www.ijjauk.com/first-aid-courses”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
